As the Cannes Film Festival continues in the South of France, the beauty and style moments just keep getting better and better. Yesterday, Naomi Campbell earned best dressed on the red carpet in vintage Chanel, but the off-duty looks have been just as good. Anya-Taylor Joy proved less is more with just a swipe of red lipstick and today, Selena Gomez reminded us how effective the classic ballerina bun can be.

On May 17, Gomez made her first appearance at Cannes, leisurely strolling through the city and stopping to take photos with fans. She pulled her hair up in an effortless, no-fuss bun and added a sweet barrette that matched her outfit. Her perfectly slicked bun didn't have a single fly-away in place, adding to the sophisticated, ballerina-esque feel of her outfit.

The Only Murders In The Building star's outfit resembled a polished diplomat (for those who remember, it was very much giving her 2011 film Monte Carlo). She wore a white pointelle cardigan with a matching skirt from Self Portrait paired with sweet black and white kitten heels from Rodger Vivier. For accessories, she styled large circular sunglasses (which unfortunately covered most of her glam), white seashell earrings, and she held a top-handle mini-bag from Aspinal of London.

We can guess that Gomez wore her typical soft-glow glam and probably used her own Rare beauty products. When the weather is warm (or if your having a bad hair day) an easygoing bun like Gomez’s can be the perfect solution. Even if you tossed it up and slicked it back on your way out the door, you’ll still appear polished which is the magic of the ballerina bun.
